Driving rain pours down on my patio. You could see the storm coming, a dark jagged grey edge sliding along the white sky. My room darkens and the water patters on my window. Pigeons find a bit of shelter on the giant letters atop the hotel.

On the longest day of the year the skies are dark early.

On my first full day off I took off into the wilds of Kentucky and the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary.

I had hoped to visit the Henry Clay estate in Lexington, but I missed a sign somewhere and ended up at the Arboretum on the University of Kentucky campus. Though there weren't many impressive plants, the bees were abundant among the few flowers.
